After the disappointment comes the insult for Fiorentina. UEFA in fact sanctioned the purple club after the Conference League final last May 29th, which Biraghi and his teammates lost against Olympiacos, for what was the second consecutive European final without trophies. The fine was imposed by the Control, Ethics and Discipline Body, by virtue of the behavior of the lily fans during the match against Olympiacos in Athens.
Heavy sanction imposed by UEFA on Fiorentina.
According to what was reported by Calcio e Finanza, the Control, Ethics and Discipline Body has decided to fine the Viola club 35,000 euros for acts of damage and throwing objects. However, the away ban for a match in UEFA competitions is suspended for two years.
The damage to the stadium and the time needed to pay the fine.
The match, as mentioned, took place in Athens in the stadium that usually hosts AEK Athens’ home matches. As the structure is owned by the club, this fine imposed on Fiorentina will have to be paid to the Turkish club within 30 days of notification of this decision for the resolution of the damage caused by its supporters, i.e. for the 28 broken seats.
