What a pain for Scotland: Porteous out for two days for the killer surgery on Gundogan

UEFA, head of the organization of the 2024 European Championships in Germany, has taken a harsh decision following the opening match between Germany and Scotland in Group A. Ryan Porteouscentral defender of Steve Clarke’s national team, will miss the next two matches of the competition.

The decision. The reason? It concerns the intervention with feet together on Ilkay Gundogan, midfielder and captain of the German national team, committed in the 45th minute and which triggered a direct red card from referee Clement Turpin. A heavy sanction, for “seriously unfair play”, the statement sent by Sky Sports: Porteous will therefore be excluded from the next decisive matches against Switzerland and Hungary in his own group.

A bad loss for coach Clarke, who will have to take action by identifying the best replacement to add to the defensive line that can be changed to four or five, depending on the needs of the match and the opponent.
