Serbia, Lukic: “Difficult match but in the next two we will show our value”

Defeat on debut for Serbia. Stojkovic’s national team was defeated 1-0 by England on the first day of Group C of the 2024 European Championship. A match played at a good pace but thrown to the winds due to a carelessness in the first half of the match which allowed Bellingham to score headed the goal that earned the three points for Southgate’s team. Now there will be the match against Slovenia which must not be missed if we still want to believe in progressing to the next round. At the end of the match in Gelsenkirchen, the midfielder Sasa Lukic commented on the official UEFA channels:

“It was a difficult match – began the former Torino player -. They really dominated in the first 15 minutes and scored the first, and only, goal. After that, especially in the second half of the match, we were controlling the game. We held up well as a team and we showed that we could handle them.

This is the way we should play and, if we play like this in the next two matches, Serbia will be proud of it and will have some hope of going through. I believe that in the next two matches we will show our value, we will be more confident and we will show the potential in attack that we didn’t show today.”
