There Romania overwhelms theUkraine in the Allianz Arena match valid for the first day of the Euro 2024 group stage (Group E). The goals of Stanciu in the 29th minute, R. Marin in the 53rd minute and Dragus in the 57th minute decided the match.

Surprisingly, coach Rebrov’s national team got off to a better start, immediately gaining control of the game and in the 8th minute they created the first opportunity: Tsygankov’s shot was however rebounded by the opposing defence. Dovbyk also tries, a special observer of the Italian big names like Sudakov, but his attempt in the 23rd minute ends in a corner. So, with the dangers gone, it’s Romania that strikes when you least expect it: Lunin makes a mistake on the way out, the ball reaches Man who serves Stanciu first; the attacker controls and flatly puts it into the top corner to the goalkeeper’s right. The equalizer came to Mudryk and Stepanenko in the 37th minute, but the latter was unable to control an inviting ball put in by the Chelsea star. Nothing to do therefore, we go to the break with Romania ahead 1-0 and also close to doubling the lead with a magic from the usual Stanciu who touches the crossbar directly from a corner in the 40th minute.
Marin and Stanciu close it out with more than half an hour to go
In the second half Ukraine was unable to react, or at least to really worry Nita, so it was Romania who found the way to the second goal already in the 53rd minute. Restart of coach Iordanescu’s national team, the ball reaches Ravan Marin (on loan to Empoli from Cagliari last season) who doesn’t think twice and unleashes a low shot that ends up in the bottom corner with the new complicity of Lunin . Finally, Dragus brought the curtain down a good half hour early with a timely tap-in on an assist from Man (Parma) in the 57th minute.
