ISIS cell dismantled in Spain: Real Madrid players and fans targeted

Spanish football is back in the sights of ISIS. As reported by El Confidencial, the Guardia Civil in collaboration with Europol and the American FBI dismantled a network that allegedly threatened to attack the “Bernabeu” stadium in Madrid, targeting Real players and fans. The police forces struck the self-proclaimed Iam Foundation, one of the major propaganda centers linked to the Islamic State with radio stations, news agencies, video production companies and profiles on social networks.

The message on social media
Through social media profiles you can see a poster showing a hooded man shooting with the crosshairs aimed at the Real Madrid bus. “My dear brother – reads the message -. Wait in a place near the players’ arrival point. Target them together with their followers”.

The arrests were immediate
The arrests began immediately. Nine people were arrested in the operation between Salt (Girona), Algeciras (Cadiz), Anta (Almeria) and Tenerife. It is not the first time that the world of football has ended up at the center of the sights of these terrorist cells, given that last April they threatened to attack the stadiums where the quarter-finals of the Champions League were spit out.
