Dedic, a wild card for Conte: the Bosnian international can be Di Lorenzo’s heir

Will Giovanni Di Lorenzo stay at Napoli? Antonio Conte took to the field himself in an attempt to mend the rift between the player (and the agent) and the Campania club but any discussion will be postponed until the end of the European Championship. The blue could be a very important element in the Salento coach’s tactical chessboard: as a right-hand man or as a full-back, his qualities are not in question and neither is his leadership, appreciated by all the coaches who have had him at their disposal in these last years.

Regardless of the future of the former Empoli player, Napoli will still have to strengthen the lateral lanes, to give the former Inter and Juventus coach the right alternatives in two fundamental roles for the game system. At the moment, in addition to Di Lorenzo, there are only Pasquale Mazzocchi, Mario Rui and Mathias Olivera in the squad; certainly important names but with different characteristics than those sought by Conte, who is looking for elements capable of being incisive even in the offensive phase.

In this sense, the profile of Amar Dedic it might be the right one. Salzburg’s Bosnian full-back has become one of the Neapolitans’ targets in the last few hours; 21 years old, Dedic grew up in the Sturm Graz youth system but joined the Red Bull club’s youth sector at 13. He has been in the first team for two seasons (already 13 appearances for the national team) and in the last one he showed excellent numbers: 31 matches between the championship, national cup and Champions League, with five goals and five assists on the scoresheet. He plays mainly on the right but can be used on the opposite flank and, if necessary, also in the center of the rearguard. A flexibility that sporting director Manna and Conte really like.
