(ANSA) – ISERLOHN, JUNE 13 – “The best final could be Italy-France. Like in 2006”. Word of Francesco Totti who in an interview with Betsson Sport ahead of the start of the European Football Championships in Germany spoke about his impressions and predictions on the tournament that is about to begin. “A team that could win the European Championship? With a competition like this there are very strong teams and players, so it’s not easy. As an Italian I hope for Italy”, says the former Roma captain adding that in any case we will have to keep keep an eye on both France and Germany.

Totti also underlined the importance of the group in international competitions: “Every single player can make the difference, but in this type of competition the group is the one that can give something more; it is more the team than the individual.” Speaking of possible Italian protagonists, the former Giallorossi captain added: “A name? – he smiles – I hope an Italian footballer: Mateo Retegui or Lorenzo Pellegrini”. Totti then expressed his appreciation for the Italian national team: “The Azzurri in the round of 16? The competition is very difficult, but Italy must take to the pitch with the aim of being able to do the best possible. They have a great coach and if he they will be able to finish further than the round of 16.” Finally, the 2006 world champion in Berlin made a prediction about a possible surprise in the tournament: “A national revelation? The beauty of football is also this improvisation: there isn’t a particular team, but if I had to make a prediction I would say that a team like Denmark could be a revelation.” To celebrate Italy’s debut at the European Championships on 15 June against Albania, Francesco Totti will participate in an exclusive evening organized by Betsson Sport with ‘Calciatori Brutti’, host of the event, together with a lucky fan, drawn at random via the “Watch it with Totti” contest, which will have the opportunity to watch the match together with the former champion.
