Van Dijk: “We are ready to make life difficult for France. I like the responsibility”

The appointment is set for June 21st, when France and Holland will face each other in the group stage with the aim of gaining crucial points for qualification. Virgil van Dijk he already knows it will be the most important match: “France is always difficult to beat,” said the Liverpool defender in an interview with the UEFA website.

“Evidently they have the individual qualities to punish you even if you make just one mistake. But we also know that, if we are at 100% and defend and attack well as a team, we can make life difficult for France too. Anything can happen, especially in a tournament important”.

Van Dijk does not think of giving Kylian Mbappé special treatment: “It doesn’t matter who you play against, we are prepared. We know what to expect: the way the opponent plays, what he can do, what he can’t do well, but this applies to all the teams and not just for France or Mbappé. In the end, it’s about defending together, as a team. My role will be the extension of the coach: I’m happy with it and it suits me all eyes are on me, but I’ve gotten used to it and it’s something I like.”
