Croatia, event on Italian football and sports diplomacy in Rijeka

(ANSA) – ZAGREB, JUNE 11 – At the University of Rijeka, at the Faculty of Law, a day of studies was held entitled ‘Italian football yesterday, today, tomorrow, and sports diplomacy’, an initiative carried out with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
On the occasion of the event, some memorabilia belonging to Paolo Rossi were exhibited, as well as shirts of Italian and Croatian players from Italian teams, including Zvonimir Boban. Among those who spoke were Federica Cappelletti, President of the Professional Women’s Serie A Division, Lorenzo Casini, President of the Serie A League – who highlighted the role of the top flight as a tool for economic promotion (next season 10 clubs will be foreign-owned) – and Giuseppe Chiné, FIGC Federal Prosecutor.

The Italian Ambassador to Croatia, Paolo Trichilo, underlined the growing importance of sport in Italian diplomacy, thanks to the impulse given by the Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, also through the launch next September of the Day of Italian Sport in the World . (HANDLE).
