Milan, new developments in the investigation into Yonghong Li: the Prosecutor’s Office has requested that it be closed

The Milan Prosecutor’s Officeas reported byHANDLE, asked to drop the investigation in which Yonghong Li, owner of Milan between 2017 and 2018, he is accused of false corporate communications. This happened after letters rogatory and bank checks all over the world, which made it possible to reconstruct the asset structures and financial flows of money also coming from accounts based in tax havens.

The Chinese entrepreneur was charged with this crime for having taken over Milan for 740 million euros with a company that later went bankrupt and was therefore unable to close the deal, despite his reassurances. In recent days, prosecutor Paola Biondolillo signed the request to dismiss the investigation which lasted approximately 6 years and which led to the conclusion that Yonghong Li would have enjoyed ample resources as he himself had assured at the time of the purchase and sale operation of the club once led by Silvio Berlusconi. Resources that would be attributable to funds and companies based in the Caymans or the British Virgin Islands, and also to the Hong Kong companies of the tycoon’s wife.

The investigations revealed a picture of “opaque” financial transactions, but not with sufficient elements to consider the accusation of false accounting to exist. The request does not strictly concern the sale of Milan, but it was nevertheless established that Yonghong Li had the necessary capital. The word now goes to the investigating judge.
