Venezia-Cremonese, Poggi: “Everything is still under discussion, but the lagoon players start as favourites”

Interviewed by TuttoB.com, Paolo Poggi spoke about the upcoming second leg of the playoffs between Venice – where he played first as a player and then as a manager – e Cremonese.

Director, between Cremonese and Venezia, in the first round of the Serie B playoff final, did prudence prevail?
“Yes, considering that the match is divided into two matches. Everything as expected: Cremonese more enterprising, without however managing to break the deadlock, and Venezia careful not to reveal themselves in order to then play for promotion within friendly walls”.

The draw keeps the match in the balance and leaves every scenario open, although Venezia will have the advantage of two out of three results in their favor in the return leg.
“Everything is still under discussion, it doesn’t take much to decide these matches. It is clear, however, that Venezia are the favourites, as they are under no obligation to win at all costs.”

How much can the field factor affect?
“It had a huge impact on the end of the championship and I believe it will be the same on Sunday. There will be a full house at Penzo and the enthusiasm is rampant in the city. Three years ago the fans didn’t have the opportunity to enjoy the promotion to Serie A live because the match against Cittadella was played behind closed doors, but now they want to do it again.”

Whatever happens, it’s a shame that one of the two teams is destined to postpone their promotion bid…
“Yes, but this is also the beauty of Serie B, a spectacular championship in which there are always favorites and surprises, so it is inevitable that someone will have to pay and then find the strength to try again. It being understood that repeating yourself is never easy, the example of Bari is eloquent.”
