Two modules, suffocating pressing and first goals: everything about Italy’s first training session towards Euro2024

First training session for Italy Luciano Spalletti inside the Coverciano Technical Center in view of Euro2024. In the early afternoon, the coach’s press conference, then a word on the pitch with the players who were the protagonists of an intense session that lasted about an hour and a half.

In the first part, Spalletti concentrated on tactical concepts, with a specific focus on ball possession and exiting pressing. This is a focal aspect in the coach’s idea for his national team, as also underlined in the meeting with the press in the previous hours.

Then time for the first module and training tests, with the group divided into two teams of 12 members. During the practice matches Spalletti gave space to two modules: the 4-2-3-1 and 3-4-2-1. Of note, as a colorful note, are the first Italian goals of this pre-Euro2024 expedition: the first to celebrate were Mateo Retegui And Giacomo Raspadori.
