Colomba: “Avellino is unlucky, but he’s fine. Carrarese? He knows how to hurt with a throw-in”

TMW Radio

Franco Colombaa profound connoisseur of the world of Lega Pro, analyzed the themes of the promotion playoffs underway in recent days, through the microphones of TMW Radio within the program “A Tutta C”:

Vicenza-Avellino, second chapter…
“I saw the match. Avellino were very unlucky at Partenio. There were many key episodes, including missed opportunities, posts and incomprehensible refereeing decisions. I saw a healthy Avellino. Vicenza is playing at home… but the Campanians are doing well. I think it could be a good match: I was captain in Avellino and I have splendid memories of that place.”

Should this not be a good year for Avellino or Vicenza, given how the projects are structured, could the good year be next?
“It’s a bit too many years, let’s say. It’s a great opportunity for both of us. They are both teams with a good past.”

Benevento-Carrarese. The guests won the first leg and present themselves as outsiders…
“The Carrarese that I saw against Juventus is a team that knows how to play well on the pitch, with maturity and the ability to hit throw-ins.”

What didn’t work in Padua?
“Padua is a particular environment, where there is a distant past that seems closer in your head. Football is done with the present and not with the past. I have experienced this, there is a lot of criticism and the work is not ideal for a coach and for a team.”

Were we talking about Ascoli’s great difficulties?
“When I played with Avellino there were Ascoli, Pisa, Empoli. Companies led by prominent personalities and presidents of the time. Great patrons who put their heart and passion into it, with results that arrived. We played 10 years in Serie A, as did Anconetani’s Pisa and Rozzi’s Ascoli. The important thing is that passionate owners are found.”

There is still a big gap between Serie B and Serie C…
“The gap between Serie B and Serie C has narrowed and in general it could already be bridged a few seasons ago. Perhaps the gap is still felt with the Serie A teams.”

The surprise of the season in Serie C between Juve Stabia and Mantua?
“Who expected Juve Stabia. He stole the place from Avellino who were among the very favourites.”
