Bale: “I love Real Madrid and I always watch their matches. Bellingham still has to prove”

Real Madrid’s recent success in Europe would not have been possible without it Gareth Bale, who played a fundamental role in the Tenth and Thirteenth with his goals against Atlético de Madrid and Liverpool. Welsh spoke to The Guardian of the UEFA Champions League final next Saturday (9.00 pm) against Borussia Dortmund and declared that his heart is still merengue: “I’ve been there for a long time. I still watch their matches and look for their results, I still love the team, I still support them, just like I did when I was young. I expect Madrid to lift the trophy tomorrow. The players of blancos they understand the pressures and know what to expect, which is a big plus.”

What happens to Real Madrid when they play the Champions League?
“You could say that now the other teams are playing against Madrid, i blancos they have a special aura. Teams are afraid of playing against Real Madrid in the Champions League and this is very important when facing a final. I hope that my former teammates can achieve another victory and continue to consolidate their title as kings of Europe.”

What it will be like for her to see this final?
“It will be nice to see a Real Madrid Champions League final without all the pressure and expectations. It’s something I’m not used to. I’ll enjoy the occasion without being under pressure. Even though I’ve been to Madrid, it’s hard to explain what it means the Champions League. Obviously it means a lot to the club and to the fans. It’s the most important competition and the main goal every year. But the fact that they continue to win, even when they seem to be in crisis… we always seem to find a way to win again.”

Bellingham will be able to win the Ballon d’Or?
“Obviously there is a lot to prove, but Bellingham has already done a lot to win the Ballon d’Or. He has adapted very well and had a fantastic first season. He won the league and managed to win a Champions League in his first season it’s obviously, from personal experience, a fantastic thing, which gives you the energy to keep going.”
