Türkiye, bad news for Montella: Soyuncu will miss Euro 2024 due to injury

Bad news for Vincenzo Montella. The Italian coach will lead Turkey to Euro 2024, but will have to do without one of the cornerstones of his national team: Caglar Soyuncu. The Atletico Madrid-owned defender, who has spent the last six months on loan at Fenerbahce, was injured on the final day of the Super Lig against Istanbulspor. A muscular problem which, as made official by the Turkish federation itself, will not allow him to participate in the European Championship.

“Our defender Çağlar Söyüncü has been excluded from the shortlist of our national team that will play the 2024 European Championship (EURO 2024) due to the injury sustained to the hamstring muscle in the Trendyol Super League match between Fenerbahçe and İstanbulspor”, yes reads in the official press release issued by the Turkish national team.
