Olympiacos is the first Greek team to win a European trophy. A masterpiece signed by José Luis Mendilibar: after the victory in the Europa League a year ago, the former Sevilla coach gives Italian football another disappointment by beating Fiorentina in the Conference League final played in Athens.
The triumph, however, is also thanks to the efforts of the volcanic president, Vangelis Marinakis. Last night the red and whites celebrated together with the fans in Piraeus and the club’s number one showed all his pride: “The crazy dream is now a reality. For our Olympiakos, for our Piraeus, for our Greece. Tonight I want them to celebrate our people, our players, our great coach and all of you who gave us the strength to continue dreaming and making our dreams come true. Long live Olympiacos, long live Piraeus, long live Greece.”
