Since July 3rd Steven Herrard he is the coach of Al Ettifaq. The former Liverpool legend began his career as a manager at Rangers, then moved to Aston Villa, before arriving in Saudi Arabia in the summer of 2023. But what made him accept the Saudi club’s advances? Gerrard himself explained it: “I have been financially secure for a long time, I have no economic problems. Therefore I can say that I did not come to Saudi Arabia for money.”
Gerrard talks about the project: “Of course, money is obviously always a factor in a life decision and this time too it was like that, but this wasn’t the only thing that pushed me to coach Al Ettifaq. I was offered the opportunity to come back to the Premier League, where a team had very little time left, where a team needed to have that momentum and that reaction, but it was too late.”
