Fiorentina wants to avenge Prague, in Athens for the Conference. Italian: “50-50 Challenge”

Just a few more hours and the Agia Sophia stadium in Athens will host the Conference League final in which Fiorentina will try to get their hands on a European cup again more than sixty years after the last. To achieve this they will have to get the better of Olympiacos, who play in their home city of Athens but at the home of their hated rivals AEK, who would like anything but to see the first international trophy of Greek football celebrated right at their home.

Mister Vincenzo Italiano he believes in it and looks back at the final we lost last year: “The only thing that’s different is that we’ve already experienced certain things. Then in my opinion these are 50-50 matches: they’re strong and we’re strong, we have to play a match the way it should be played the finals. We have some experience, we have something behind us and we have to show it tomorrow. I live this match with great anticipation… I hear and read what they say, for us it’s a sort of revenge mistakes, remaining attentive and focused. The final must be played with fire inside and maximum application. Last year we didn’t have a good epilogue, we will put that bitterness to make it end differently knowing that the opponent is strong, of quality and be prepared: it will be tough.”

Bonaventura echoes him: “In a final the most important thing is the team result: we put personal aspects aside to win. A trophy in Florence would be even nicer, it’s more difficult here, the last cup was won more than 20 years ago and you can feel the desire of the fans.” Captain Biraghi can only be of the same opinion: “We certainly want revenge, but it’s there from everyone who was there last year: the coach, the teammates, the club… We all want to change a result that we didn’t deserve last year. Unfortunately we have made a few more mistakes than West Ham and we were rightly punished. We want revenge and take away this trophy.”
