Roger Schmidt’s team had their eyes on Italy this afternoon, in particular on the match between Atalanta and Turin, and must say Thank you precisely to Gasperini’s boys: by beating the Granata 3-0 they rose to fourth place in the Serie A table, thus preventing Roma to participate in the next edition of the top European competition.

The good news had already arrived on Friday, with Bologna’s 2-0 defeat against Genoa; Atalanta would have been enough to win one of the last two games to move up in the standings and do them a favor Eagles of Lisbon, who will thus collect around 40 million euros from UEFA.

In addition to Benfica, Slavia Prague and Salzburg also benefited from the result of the match at the Gewiss Stadium, who will play the 3rd qualifying round of the Champions League instead of the 2nd.
