Davide NicolaEmpoli coach, in his press conference on the eve of the match against Roma, also spoke about how fundamental everyone’s contribution will be in the last match of the championship, with the Azzurri looking for salvation: “Today I’m here not only as the guide of Empoli but also as the voice of a group of men who have dedicated their body and soul to this season. I have already said it to my boys, but I want to pass it on to all our supporters: Empoli embodies values such as sacrifice, passion, humility, ideas. Above all, as has been said, we don’t have the resources of some great teams, but what distinguishes us is our heart, our identity which we have always maintained.
On Sunday we take to the field not only for ourselves, but we will play for our city, for our people, for the society which deserves deep respect. This is the time to have one big heart, because only together can we reach this goal and make a difference. It will be a very tough challenge, we know this as we know that nothing is achieved except at the price of an enormous sacrifice. We are ready to give everything to try a feat that would be historic and therefore I ask the whole environment to accompany us. Everyone must do their part, we are the ambassadors of a collective dream”
How long did it take the team to digest the disappointment of Udine?
“No disappointment but channeled anger. We could have had something more but it wouldn’t have changed what we had to do. Just healthy anger, we voluntarily didn’t want to bring forward the match. The team trained, responded, now we just want to do something extraordinary”
