“The choice was made based on the desire for revenge after Monterosi’s dismissal. He is a coach who knew the group and the players in the group. He had the ability, together with the staff, to unite a team that had been revolutionized in half of the performers.”
How do you evaluate your journey this season?
“I entered the race and doing so is not easy because you find yourself in a context of choices made. My ability to balance and support the team helped, as did the reshuffle done in January. The problem was that we were flattening ourselves. I tried to bring players with different motivations. This helped us because the second round brought us to safety.”
What, in your opinion, are the best moments of the season?
“I think it was the victories away from home, especially the one in Cerignola. That happened at the most complicated moment of the season. The team has shown that they can win on a difficult pitch like that and they have shown that they can do it. This salvation has a very important value, as mentioned, also for the great changes underway. I already said it was the greatest satisfaction for me. It’s not easy to have a championship like this, after perhaps there were also different expectations. Making the transfer market in January is also very complicated because perhaps some players don’t agree to fight for survival. Congratulations must be paid to the president and also to the fans who have always stood by us without ever challenging us.”
Finally, a thought about his future…
“The president told me that we will have the chance to meet over the weekend and understand the possibility of moving forward together. I would do it with great desire because I have found a great president and a great place.”
