Final result: Monza-Frosinone 0-1
MONZA’S REPORT CARDS (by Lidia Vivaldi)
Sorrentino 6 – The opposition of Harroui’s foot was fundamental, preventing the Canaries from doubling their lead. It happens again on Harroui in the second half.
Birindelli 5.5 – He struggled a lot in the first half faced with Valeri’s exuberance. It goes a little better in the second half, when the opponent lowers the revs a bit. From 34′ st: Pereira sv
Izzo 5.5 – A little too nervous and, consequently, not very confident in defensive closures, in particular when he has to control Harroui’s insertions. From 1st st: D’Ambrosio 6 – Gives more solidity to the red and white defense in the second half, allowing less space to the opponents.
Mari 6 – Try to respond to your opponent’s outbursts with experience. The most continuous in the red and white rearguard.
Kyriakopoulos 5 – Some significant inaccuracies, particularly in the scoring action. He’s not at his best. From 1st st: Zerbin 6 – In the second half Monza plays another match and the former Canary can make his contribution especially in the pushing phase.
Bondo 5 – He struggles to keep up with Soulé, and soon gets a yellow which risks affecting his performance. From 1st st: Carbons 6.5 – He immediately enters strongly, taking advantage of an interlocutory moment from Frosinone. In the end he becomes dangerous, without however managing to sting.
Gagliardini 6 – He plays his thoughtful game, without overdoing it but being ready when Monza tries to strike.
Colpani 6.5 – In the first half he was present almost exclusively in the offensive phase, but it was his only real opportunity for the red and whites. In the second half he is also more active in coverage, he is undoubtedly the best on the pitch for Monza. He also hits a sensational post before the break.
Pessina 6 – Present in both phases, in the first half he came close to scoring but was hindered by the rocky Romagnoli.
Mota 6.5 – Very generous match from the Portuguese forward who never has the opportunity to seek a personal conclusion but contributes with several suggestions for his teammates. Also present in defensive closures. From 20th st: Caprari 5.5 – Upon returning after the injury, he still has a bit of rust.
Djuric 5.5 – He is the one under special observation by the Frosinone defence, he immediately scares with a header but in the rest of the match he is well controlled by the scorers.
Raffaele Palladino 6– He underestimates the hunger of Frosinone, who takes center stage at Brianteo in the first half. In the second half he made the right corrections, but Monza was unable to avoid defeat in the last minute in front of the home crowd.
FROSINONE’S REPORT CARDS (by Lidia Vivaldi)
Waxes 6 – No particularly difficult interventions, except the diving save on Gagliardini in the final.
Lirola 6 – A lot of work on the defensive level but also some interesting ideas going forward. Solid.
Romagnoli 6 – He keeps a good watch on both Djuric and Pessina’s insertions.
Okoli 6.5 – Rocky in contrasts, even risking something in disciplinary terms. He has to deal with a client who is anything but simple like Colpani.
Zortea 6 – It can be seen at times, but he is the author of a couple of interesting initiatives which however do not have the desired effects.
Barrenechea 6.5 – Play with maximum concentration and a lot of competitive spirit. It is essential to contain Monza’s counterattacks. From the 42nd st: Reinier sv
Brescianini 6.5 – Always dynamic and reactive, he was the protagonist in some counterattacks that put Monza in a corner.
Valeri 6.5 – In the first half he carries out numerous attacks on the left-handed lane, driving the opposing scorers crazy. A little less incisive in the second half.
Soulé 7 – Fundamental contribution in the economy of the match, recovers balls and is ready to take on suggestions from his teammates. He hits a sensational post in the second half. From the 45th minute: Baez sv
Harroui 7 – Great contribution, especially in the first part of the match. He is the author of the assist for Cheddira’s 1-0 and of a personal conclusion that only a miracle from Sorrentino manages to defuse. From 27th st: Gelli 6.5 – Enters the game very well and contributes to holding the game at the end.
Cheddira 7 – He is immediately ready to send the Canaries’ first chance into the net. A goal that is worth a lot even if it is the Moroccan’s only real goal. From 42′ st: Cuni sv
Eusebio Di Francesco 7 – He fields a team that knows how to be immediately aggressive, scoring the first goal and legitimizing the advantage with a very confident first half. In the second half the team knew how to suffer and capitalize on Cheddira’s goal which gave a big hand in terms of safety.
