These are the words of the Azzurri coach Davide Nicolawho spoke to DAZN after Empoli’s 1-1 draw on the Udinese pitch at the Bluenergy Stadium in Udine.
What prevails after such a crazy ending?
“Today I struggle to come in front of you. But it’s right to do it. The match was seen, I highly respect a professional like Guida but it is equally certain that I do not agree with the direction of the match. It’s the fourth goal they’ve canceled out incorrectly. I’ll stop here because I don’t want to go any further and I want to respect everyone’s work. My boys played a strong game, I’m happy with them. We got a draw but we will prepare for the next match believing in it. I told the boys to endure everything, even any injustices.”
Do you want to say something about rigor?
“What I had to say I said calmly, the goal was legal, that’s all.”
What did you discuss with the race director?
“I politely asked the race director for explanations, he gave me his version but now it doesn’t matter. My boys must believe in it and we will believe in it to achieve this goal.”
Fazzini’s tears, what did he tell you?
“It’s not like we’re here to make broadcasts other than a football match. Nothing to say about the withholding, if anything it must be said that it came after a further recovery but Jacopo must concentrate on moving forward. Now let’s think about the next one, with all the fans, whom I always thank.”
What will you say to your boys after this match?
“I just tell my boys to stick together, we have a tough week ahead and we have to face it together”
Do you want to play the last match like today, perhaps with a rush of adrenaline from the injustice?
“I didn’t talk about injustice, I say that I teach my kids to manage these situations, without disrespecting anyone. Let’s move forward and continue to believe in something extraordinary.”
