Xavi: “I have the trust of Laporta and Deco. I understand the rumors but nothing has changed”

Barcelona will part ways with Xavi? President Laporta seems to be going in this direction judging by the news that has emerged in recent days and there was great anticipation for the Terrassa coach’s press conference. Here are all his words, reported by As.

How do you approach the match against Rayo to win second place after everything that happened?
“It depends on us, it’s a great opportunity. We’re playing at home in front of a crowd that will certainly help us. We have two chances, but we want to close it on the first try.”

What is the situation for the future?
“The club gives me peace of mind, we must continue to work with enthusiasm. I understand the rumours, but nothing has changed.”

Do you get the sense that there are people close to the president pushing for his removal?
“I don’t know and I don’t care. The trust of the president, the vice president and Deco is intact. I understand the media, but they tell me otherwise.”

Should Laporta have argued with you?
“We will sit down, but everything is like three weeks ago, when we announced our continuity. We are in permanent contact, if there are changes we will inform you. I am focused on tomorrow’s victory and starting a new project.”

Do you have the strength to continue?
“I have no doubts. Things will go well. There is a base that has been consolidated and next year we will play on all fronts. I have the ambition and enthusiasm intact. I won’t deceive the Barcelona fans: this is the Barça and these things happen. The team is involved and enthusiastic.”

Is tomorrow’s match special for you?
“Only because if we win we will be guaranteed second place. We want to give our best and play well. The message is one of gratitude.”

Do you think the president got angry because of your words?
“Who says that? I wasn’t given this message, just encouragement to beat Rayo.”

How are you?
“Happy and content. I wake up happy and when I arrive with the car at Ciutat Esportiva I’m happy because I’m going to work in the best club in the world. We will show that we are competitive. We have already proven it and we have won. I have been used to criticism since I started here”.
