Tottenham saw their remaining hopes of qualifying for the next Champions League go up in smoke by losing yesterday against Manchester City. A defeat, the fifth in the last six games, which however was almost greeted with relief by a large part of the stadium, given that Guardiola’s team overtook their hated cousins Arsenal in first place and is on the way to winning the title again.
Ange Postecoglou condemned this attitude: “I think the last 48 hours have revealed that the foundations are quite fragile. Outside the club, inside the club, everywhere. It’s been very interesting; these are just my observations, I won’t tell you more. You can make your own assessment of what happened,” he said at the conference.
“I probably misinterpreted the situation regarding what I consider important and the commitment to become a winning team, but that’s okay. I’m here because I just want to win, I want to be successful in this club. I have no interest in others, what their priorities and interests are: I know what’s important to build a winning team, and that’s what I want to focus on. I’ll just have to make some changes.”
