“Receiving an award in my city is a source of great pride, I thank all of Piacenza”. Talking is Simone Inzaghifresh winner of the Scudetto with Inter, directly from the ceremony that was his own Piacenza dedicated today to him. “In these three years at Inter – Inzaghi’s words reported by Sportmediaset – I got closer to the city, especially to dad and mom; I often go back to visit my family and childhood friends, it’s something that has helped me a lot. I am very pleased to see so many people from Piacenza welcoming me, I am proud to also carry the name of my city around Italy and Europe. When do you plan to announce the renewal with Inter?
“I said it after Torino. Winning the championship five days early was wonderful, considering what the Inter fans paid us. Now we have the last games of the championship to face in the best possible way, then we will meet with the company.”
What should Inter be like for the future?
“It must be a strong Inter, we must improve our objectives every year. Thinking of six trophies and a Champions League final when I arrived three years ago seemed unimaginable, but there was a lot of hope. I knew I would find a strong club, with very strong managers: I think of Marotta, Ausilio, Baccin… I knew that, despite the difficulties we were talking about, they would build competitive teams. Then with the team and the fans all together we managed to win six trophies and make it to a Champions League final is something that will stay with you forever.”
Does the agreement between Suning and Pimco give you peace of mind?
“I must be honest, we have always had this tranquility. President Zhang did not let me personally or my boys lack anything, his absence this year was almost never felt because every week there was a continuous conversation to he always helped us and I never had a problem.”
What are Inter’s objectives? The Champions League?
“The objective must always be to win, because it is a fantastic team with wonderful fans that everyone has seen. We will try to improve as we have done every year, knowing that it will not be very simple because there are teams that have the same objectives as us” .
What is the belief that led you to pursue your football idea?
“I think of my boys, who had an extraordinary championship. It is a path that objectively will be difficult to repeat but we have a club that has not only rejoiced for the championships but is constantly working and moving to ensure that things can continue the same way.”
