Fontanella scores in Kuwait: “Life choice. Me at Napoli? At most I could clean my shoes”

Mario Fontanellathe striker with the suitcase who doesn’t preach in the desert but scores goals, speaks thus to Il Mattino about his latest experience, in the Kuwaiti championship: “I’m a striker with the suitcase. I played, scored and won in Malta, then in Bahrain and This year I arrived in Kuwait. It’s a lifestyle choice. Obviously linked to the economic offer, because it’s clear that football here has nothing to do with European football. Few matches are played, there are long breaks for the national team and the championship stops for a month for Ramadan.”

A different culture but Mario doesn’t complain.
“It’s a great opportunity for my daughters to grow. They now speak English perfectly and the eldest has learned a few words of Arabic. I have an annual contract. When I signed I didn’t know what I was getting into. We’ll see what they offer me to stay and maybe I’ll give it some thought.”

Naples in my heart, since my youth:
“Wearing that shirt was a huge honor. Even if only in the youth team. But I didn’t play much, so I decided to take another path. Mine. I created everything on my own and this is a great satisfaction. Me at Napoli? Now let’s not exaggerate. I maintain myself very well but at most I can go to clean my shoes. In fact, I would go there with great pleasure.”
