From the stage of the ‘Premio Maestrelli’ currently taking place in Latina he spoke Stefano Palazzicurrent Sports Judge of Serie C, but with a past as a protagonist in the Calciopoli investigation:
“I am happy with this recognition. I would like to thank the jury for two reasons: for the person to whom it is named, who I never had the pleasure of meeting, despite having met his wife Monia; for the values of sport such as respect for the rules. It is a youth tournament and this must be the life lesson to be imparted. Not everyone will be a footballer when they grow up, but everyone will be a citizen as an adult. For all those who collaborated in working on the Calciopoli investigation, the pain was enormous. To keep my back straight, the support of the Federation was very important. I share this award with all those who believed in me, from Abete, to Tavecchio, to Gravina. Do you know why? Because my work has always been done independently, especially thanks to them. The national team, in such a dramatic moment in our sport, then managed to unite and give us the great satisfaction of Germany 2006.
We promoted the disciplinary structure but it was the speed of sporting justice that allowed Italian teams to register for the following year’s European cups. Milan benefited from it, given that that year in this way – that is to say by participating – they managed to win the Champions League.”
