What Marotta, Ausilio and Inzaghi say (and what they don’t say) about the Inter transfer market

All together passionately. It seems like the house motto Inter, where the celebration for winning the championship is still underway and will continue until the end of the championship. A long and deserved catwalk for the Nerazzurri Simone Inzaghi, who however are also starting to think about the future: made up of grafts, two of which – Taremi and Zielinski – are already closed. But also of potential transfers, renewals, reinforcements and replacements.

From the conquest of the tricolor onwards, Inzaghi himself, but also and above all the CEO Beppe Marotta and the director Piero Ausilio they talked about what the Nerazzurri transfer market will be. The trademark of the “creative market”, for example, is entirely Marottian, who after the arithmetic illustrated the plans for the future.

What do they say. Thus, for example, Marotta a few hours after the arithmetic: “We will go and check all the contracts, we have gathered from everyone the desire to stay. The cycle has not even reached the halfway point, we want to confirm most of the players. Set of values, ours must be a creative market. Ausilio and Baccin must identify replacements in the event of departures, which are not on the horizon.” The idea of confirming the squad also appears more clearly in Ausilio’s statements: “We wouldn’t want to do any damage, we made two European finals and won a wonderful championship. Today the management’s responsibility is not to touch the balance of a team that works very good. Two players who will raise the level further, now it is legitimate to take a moment to reflect and make the right decisions. If it were up to me I wouldn’t change anything. The idea is not to touch.”

The idea, for the record, is also publicly shared by coach Inzaghi, who after the defeat against Sassuolo went even further, in the concept of confirming everything and everyone: “I told my club that the players I had this I would like to start again with all of them, without one less. Arnautovic and Sanchez were very important to me.” At the same time, the coach himself has repeatedly reiterated the need to expand and lengthen the squad at his disposal. A concept that, apparently, would clash with that expressed by Ausilio, inclined to maintain a “smart” team, quite short.

What they don’t say. Meanwhile, some players will certainly leave: Sensi, Klaassen, Sanchez and Cuadrado. We can’t mention them on the day of celebration, another probable starter is Audero unless the assault on the Brazilian Bento fails. Furthermore, that at least one other element – Arnautovic – the club would willingly accompany him to the door: it is not excluded that the Austrian will remain, but here we return to Inzaghi’s request, who would like to have an additional striker. Probably, he will also put it forward in the end-of-season summit scheduled in a few days. It’s trivial to remember (it’s not a question of saying it or not saying it: it simply doesn’t depend on Viale della Liberazione but on the other clubs) that the market also depends on possible transfers, and these are linked to the offers that arrive or not.

A more significant underlying theme, a small difference of views not so much on Inter’s competitiveness – and this summer Inzaghi is an excellent argument to plead the cause – but rather on the team’s approach. The feeling is that, apart from the goalkeeper, the management would willingly invest in some departments, the defense above all; and the coach would instead strengthen the attack, but also the external flanks where Buchanan’s arrival has clearly not settled the balance. Small (no need to create cases) issues that will come to a head when there is a need to discuss.
