Thuram as Onana? Will Giuntoli be able to sell Bremer? Will another top player leave Milan? Where will Osimhen go? Here are the big names who can say goodbye to Serie A in the summer

Born in Naples on 03/10/88, graduated in Philosophy and Politics from the Oriental University of Naples. He has been working for TMW since 2008, he was deputy editor for 10 years. Sent to follow the national team

Kim Min-jae, André Onana and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. Rasmus Hojlund and Sandro Tonali. But also Gugliemo Vicario, Morten Hjulmand or Radu Dragusin. To understand what we have become, what the role of our championship is today in the world panorama, just look at this season without going too far. That Italy is a land of passage and no longer a point of arrival is now a consolidated reality. It’s been like this for years and often it’s not even that bad news: with the sale of Onana, Inter built a more competitive team, with that of Hojlund i Percassi the best Atalanta ever. Transforming difficulties into opportunities is the mantra that all our managers must deal with. You have to make sure that it goes well for you: possible, but far from a given because it could also happen that it ends up like in Napoli after the sale of Kim min-jae.
It’s a music that won’t change next summer. Many of the best players in our league will leave: it’s not a possibility, but a certainty. We just need to understand how many there will be, who will say goodbye. Also because we can no longer do without these large sales: in a market that has self-financing as its watchword, selling well is the necessary step to dive into purchases.

Even from this point of view Giuseppe Marotta is a true champion. The management of Paul Pogba, signed on a free transfer and sold for more than one hundred million euros, is his manifesto as well as the ten Scudetti won. A type of operation which, although with different economic contours, has been repeated several times over the years: the last one was André Onana, a free transfer sold a year later to Manchester United for over fifty million euros, the next one could be Marcus Thuram. The French striker who arrived after the expiry of his contract with Gladbach was a great protagonist of the Scudetto. He has a clause of 95 million euros, fifteen million less could be enough to snatch him from Inter.
The divorce between Napoli and Napoli has already been scheduled for the end of December Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian center forward, the highest paid player in Serie A since Christmas, has a clause in his contract that varies between 120 and 130 million euros. De Laurentiis has put it up for sale. Indeed, he hopes to sell him as soon as possible so as to plan an incoming market which after a year like this can only be plentiful: PSG will take care of it for the post-Mbappé, Chelsea will evaluate him as they are looking for a centre-forward.

Who will surely return to England is Romelu Lukaku. Currently on loan at Roma, the Belgian center forward will need to return to Chelsea and only then will he understand if there are margins for returning to Italy and attempting a new adventure. Different story for Paulo Dybala who has a 13 million euro clause for abroad and another two years of contract with Roma: without renewal, farewell is a more likely than possible option.

Transfers to finance the transfer market is what Cristiano Giuntoli is also working on for his Juventus. The Tuscan manager will hardly be able to sell Dusan Vlahovic (the Serbian striker will earn around 24 million euros net in the next two years) and then he will try with Gleison Bremer (on the occasion of the last renewal the price was already set at just over 60 million euros) e Federico Chiesa should the latter not accept the renewal of the contract expiring on 30 June 2025.

The events at Milan should also be carefully monitored. A year ago the protagonist of the sale of Sandro Tonali to Newcastle, the Rossoneri club today has two players in its squad who are asking the Via Aldo Rossi club to go beyond the salary policy imposed after the renewal of Rafael Leao’s contract in order to sign a new agreement: Mike Maignan and Theo Hernandezboth expiring in 2026.

Other scattered notes: from the sale of Nicolas Gonzalez for over 40 million euros the market of a Fiorentina team may depend, which at the moment is navigating by sight awaiting new dictates from above. Joshua Zirkzee, the great revelation of this Serie A, is indeed in the sights of Milan, Inter and Juventus but also has a large market in the Premier League and his salary request of more than six million net per season makes the deal easier for the clubs ‘over the Channel than for ours. Then we have to understand what will happen Luis Alberto and Ciro Immobile, by Albert Gudmundsson and Alessandro Buongiorno.
In summary: Serie A will say goodbye to many of the most important players in this championship in the summer because you have to sell before buying. The dynamic is this at all levels, the consequence is that now every summer we say goodbye to many of our best players. The next one will be no exception.
