The number 5 Real Madrid shirt, which once belonged to a legend such as Zinedine Zidane, has finally found a new owner, even if it was already written in the end. Fate had great things in store for Jude Bellinghamas he said in an interview with Movistar. “My father always wore the Zidane personalized Real Madrid shirt at home. It’s funny because, in a certain sense, the circle has closed. He gave it to me when I arrived here in the summer. He always wore it and I asked him: ‘Who’s this guy on your shirt?’ He’d say, ‘When you’re older we’ll see it on YouTube…’ Now that I’m wearing the number 5, it’s become quite a story.”
On the day of his presentation, Bellingham declared himself a Zidane fan. “I wanted to thank Vallejo for giving me the number 5. I really admire Zidane and it’s a number that inspires me. I don’t want to be like him, because I’m different, but I’m very happy to wear this number. It’s an honor.”
Zidane was also impressed by the talent of the class of 2003: “He is an incredible player who does incredible things. We could have imagined what he would have done, but he exceeded all expectations. We must not forget that he is only 20 years old. He arrived with a lot of desire and so many goals. That’s what he’s doing: raising the bar very high, showing the world what he is.”
