Parma, sporting director Pederzoli: “Some adjustments will be needed for the team. The important thing is to keep the best players”

Mauro Pederzolisporting director of Parma who won the Serie B championship, thus gaining promotion to Serie A, was interviewed by Republic. These are his words reported by Parmalive.com.

“The journey began three years ago, when the American owners decided to build a young, international, multicultural team. We looked around Europe for talented guys, teaming them up with some very experienced footballers, Gigi Buffon above all. It worked”.

In 2018 Parma was the team with the most Italians in Serie A. Today it is the one with the fewest in Serie B.
“We have an excellent scouting structure. Our objective is to look for the right player, at the right price. We don’t care which passport he has in his pocket. We will continue along this line. In the meantime, we’ll enjoy the party.”

His contract expires on June 30. What do we do now?
“We will talk to the club soon to plan the future.”

Coach Fabio Pecchia, on the other hand, is linked to Parma for one more year. This is the third promotion for him after those with Verona and Cremonese. Is he the right man for Serie A too?
“He has a game idea that can work in any situation. He is modern, he knows how to manage a young and multicultural group.”

What’s missing from the rose?
“Some adjustments will need to be made, but the basis is good. The important thing will be to keep the best players, knowing that they have many eyes on them.”

What shouldn’t a newly promoted team get wrong?
“Revolutionizing a group that works can be a mistake. But also not understanding that a team that wins in Serie B may not work in Serie A. It’s not easy.”
