Saverio Sticchi Damiani, president of Leccespoke after his team’s draw yesterday on the Cagliari pitch, speaking to the microphones of Telerama: “I would say an extremely important point against a Cagliari team that was waiting for us for the match of our lives. Sardinia had been called together to support Cagliari in this match and therefore it was a very difficult match. Cagliari made their maximum effort to recover all injured, this was a match on which the opponents had invested a lot and consequently the context was not simple, it was not trivial. However, the team was solid in managing the 90 minutes. Beyond the draw we had several opportunities to win match with two sensational poles, the team is mature and intelligent, just as the technical leadership is intelligent”.
Whoever came in from the bench made the difference.
“Those who came in without distinction did really very well and they were all decisive. The coach made the right choices in the substitutions, people came in with the right mind, with the right spirit, they are all involved. You can see that the boys are all serene and with the desire to take part, whether for 90 minutes or for one minute. All ready to give their contribution”.
There is little left to salvation.
“I believe it is a big step but at the same time a step on a path, on a path that is indecipherable in this championship. I don’t think it makes sense to make calculations because rather unpredictable results happen every week, some small ones against some big ones and so we’re just wasting energy… Let’s play it, also because I think we all have the pleasure, both footballers and also our fans, of living these adventures and these missing matches.”
