Frosinone, Angelozzi: “Salvation is a dream. Soulé, Kaio Jorge and Barrenechea are from Juve”

Guido Angelozzisports director of Frosinonespoke to the microphones of the media present, including TMWon the sidelines of the Adicosp football Grand Gala, in which he was awarded as the best sporting director of Serie B 2022/2023: “The promotion was very important. It is an award that I had already received with Spezia, I am very happy, I have to thank all the staff. I’m picking it up, but it belongs to the team, to Fabio Grosso and to everyone who was there. I thank everyone who allowed me to be here.”

How do you see the race for salvation?
“There are 3 games left, we’re there. We said at the beginning of the year that we wanted to fight to stay in the category all the way, we’re succeeding. We hope this dream comes true.”

Did you expect Sassuolo to win against Inter?
“Sassuolo is a strong team, they have important players, they won the first leg and the second leg against the Nerazzurri. They were good.”

How do you rate the season?
“We are satisfied with what we have done. We had some objectives, the first was to try to enhance the players and carry forward a certain issue as a club, we almost succeeded. The dream is salvation, we are fighting against important teams. We are happy, We hope to be able to accomplish this feat.”

Can Frosinone be a model for the future regardless of the final result?
“I can’t say it, but we have been trying to valorise many young people for a few years, something that is done less in Italy. The Leverkusen people invited me last week, I know the sporting director and he wanted me to meet the managing director. he said: ‘In Italy they don’t do what you do with young people’. We are convinced of moving forward with this project. Then, if we set an example, others will say so.”

Are Soule, Barrenechea and Kaio Jorge all from Juventus?
“They are good, they can fit in, then the sporting director of Juventus will decide whether they can fit in or not. They are good at making the most of the players, they are proving that they are from Serie A. Then we have Ibrahimovic and Cuni from Bayern Munich (the according to him he only played for the youth team there, ed.), Renier of Real Madrid… The important clubs give us these players because there is this policy here that helps young people.”

What surprised you about Soulé?
“He has class, dribbling, inventiveness. He has talent and when someone has talent he can play anywhere.”

In your career, where would the salvation of Frosinone rank among the results achieved?
“A nice business card for my satisfaction when I’m old. Maybe I’ll think that a town of 40 thousand inhabitants has been saved… It’s the third time in Serie A, we’ve been relegated twice, this year we’ll fight to the end. Let’s hope because the city, the fans, the president deserve this. It would be a dream.”

Is there a discussion with Juventus about extending the loans of Soulé, Barrenechea and Kaio Jorge?
“No, we have a very good relationship with him, but now we are thinking about reaching safety.”
