In the latest rumors, the hypothesis of a disqualification for Bryan Cristante, after what happened during Roma-Juventus. In the twenty-ninth minute of the second half, with the ball in Szczesny’s hands, the cameras caught the Giallorossi midfielder red-handed while he uttered an alleged blasphemy. A lip that is difficult to misinterpret and almost too clear.
So everything will depend on the Federal Prosecutor’s Office, who could ask the Sports Judge to take the incident into consideration. But, according to what was reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport in its online edition, the Roma midfielder will not be disqualified. The blasphemy would only be detected by a video and not with the aid of audio, which would in fact make the sports judge’s decision on the matter in question complicated. This is why Cristante probably won’t be disqualified tomorrow. In these cases, in fact, the now consolidated jurisprudence leads to the failure to sanction the player, also because there could be a misunderstanding relating to the sentence uttered by the player. In short, to get to the stoppage in case, sports justice also needs the certainty of what has been expressed.
During this season it has already happened to Stefano Turati, Frosinone goalkeeper, last August. Turati had “been clearly framed in the television footage while uttering a blasphemous expression, audible and identifiable without a margin of reasonable doubt”, we read in the reasons chosen after the first day.
Roma’s next match, in the championship, will be decisive for the Champions League race, given that the opponent is Gian Piero Gasperini’s Atalanta, three points behind but with two games less (they will play this evening against Salernitana). And for that match Cristante will be there in his place in midfield.
