These are the words of the Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghiwho spoke to DAZN after Inter’s 1-0 defeat against Sassuolo at the Mapei Stadium in Reggio Emilia.
Do you regret not being able to reach 100 points?
“Absolutely yes. We don’t like losing. There should have been more injury time but compliments should be given to Sassuolo. In the first half they approached it better, in the second we changed something and grew. We don’t like losing, we celebrated a lot but we don’t like suffering defeats.”
Beyond the defeat, it’s time to cash in on the accomplishments. In this sense, is there a player who has made you proud, who has improved the most?
“It wouldn’t be right to mention a name. I said that the 25 players who made this journey would also be there next year. Who played more, who less but they all have the same importance for me. We won with 5 days to spare and got the second star. It is the championship of joy but it is right and right that there is a bit of bitterness tonight.”
What has the club told you about next summer?
“The market is unpredictable, we have already signed 2 international players. Next year, with all the matches on the schedule, it will be a new situation and the market will certainly be moving. I’m lucky enough to have a company that I’m already working for
Taremi has just scored a penalty, what kind of addition will it be?
“Important player, many matches in the Champions League, in Europe, he has scored many goals and we are happy to be able to increase the number of attackers. We will be a longer squad than this year.”
Are you satisfied after this Champions League?
“It’s definitely not easy, there are strong opponents. It was a match against Atletico that we wanted to get through. Let’s not forget that Inter hadn’t been in these positions in the Champions League for 10 years. We must not look back but move forward and improve ourselves. We have parameters but in the last 3 years we have operated well with the resources available thanks to the excellent managers at Inter. Thanks also to our fantastic fans who we wanted to make rejoice tonight too.”
When does it renew?
“First we have these 3 matches with teams who are fighting for their goals. On Friday in Frosinone the team will take to the pitch with a different approach to tonight. After the first 20 minutes we changed our attitude.”
