Marcelo Estigarribiaformer Juventus winger, spoke to TuttoJuve of what is happening to the Bianconeri, in particular on the possible arrival of Thiago Motta as the new coach. “He is making Bologna play very well, his greatest merit is having raised the performance of a group of good players to the highest levels. I like Zirkzee very much, who I would see well at Juve with Vlahovic, but Freuler is also doing a great season. They are all superlative thanks to their coach, they are hungry and want to win. They won comfortably in Rome, that says a lot.”
Who would choose between Motta and Conte?
“I choose Conte, because there is a need to rebuild the team to return it to victory. He is very good at that. After all, he has already done it once and with great success. I have always heard that the leaders of that Juventus team were Buffon, Barzagli, Chiellini, Pirlo and Del Piero, but in reality the first was the coach. We followed him through and through, we knew about the difficulty but we were aware that it was the right path. He told us to spit blood, he gave us incredible energy and desire to win. And if he told us to cross a wall, we would certainly have done it.”
Chiesa and Vlahovic are out of contract, what would you do with them?
“They are two of the most important players in the squad in recent years, they are young and talented. I would keep them, because they are the future of this team. I also like Vlahovic a lot, he is a great goalscorer. In a difficult season he still managed to scoring 17 goals, which is never too few in a very tactical championship like the Italian one.”
An opinion on the Italian Cup, what final will it be?
“I hope for a beautiful final, full of spectacle and twists. It would be very important for Juve to win a trophy, but I don’t see a big favourite. Let the best team win.”
