Bologna, three points away from the Champions League, Torino bids farewell (definitively?) to Europe

Yawns win between Turin and Bologna. It’s 0-0 at the Olimpico, with Juric’s men more enterprising but only creating two scoring chances against the Bolognese’s zero. Goalkeeper Skorupski was the protagonist, good at saying no to Zapata and Ilic, but the result was basically right. Bologna is moving further closer to the Champions League zone (4 points missing according to arithmetic), while Torino bids farewell – perhaps definitively – to the Europe zone. Nine 0-0s for the Piedmontese team in the championship.

Here are Skorupski’s words. “We’re having a good time, the fans are following us everywhere, it’s a shame about the result. We wanted the three points, the team defended well. Let’s hold on to this point. I made two great saves, but everyone was good, but not only I. The team defended like a great team, as I said before, let’s keep this point and we are already in Naples. There are two very difficult games to face, let’s not lower our heads, we believe in ourselves. We are aiming for the Champions League, that’s our goal and let’s think about this.”

Calafiori is more realistic than the king. “A very difficult match, I thought they would give up a bit in the second half but instead they got to the end. It’s still an important point. We’ve reached the first step, but we can’t stop now. The matches are difficult, maybe we’ll play better with the big teams rather than the small ones, but the objective is always three points.”

Thiago Motta one step away from the Champions League. “There are three kilometers to go: we want to try to give a good push with determination. We want to reach an unthinkable and unexpected goal for what I saw in the faces of my boys after the pre-season friendly. We are there deservedly, we can go all the way to try to enter the Champions League”

Here is what Juric said instead. “I’m very critical in certain situations. We made a mistake at the beginning of the year in trusting certain players who didn’t give us anything. The boys were splendid after a few months. It’s like this in Turin: people want to go to Europe, but we we are doing fantastic things. In some matches we lacked goals from wingers, defenders and midfielders.”
