Three records, or almost, fly away in a single evening. With the 1-0 conceded at the Mapei Stadium by Sassuolo, theInter already champion of Italy, he greets three possible objectives to be achieved between now and the end of the championship. Let’s see which ones.
The triple digit in the championship. The record, from this point of view, was already unattainable. In fact, Simone Inzaghi’s Nerazzurri would not have been able to close the championship on 102 points like Conte’s Juventus. By beating Sassuolo, however, they could have reached over one hundred, 101 to be precise.
THE clean sheets. It is a record that, specifically, salutes Yann Sommer. “Stopped” at 18 games without conceding a goal in this championship, the Swiss goalkeeper should have played this match (and not conceded goals) to aim to set a new record. Now, in the best case scenario he will be able to reach 21, the current record set by De Sanctis (Roma), Buffon (Juventus, twice) and Provedel (Lazio). But not, precisely, to overcome and improve this statistic.
Consecutive goalscoring games. Left without a goal this evening, Inter stopped at 42 their streak of consecutive games in Serie A with at least one goal scored. It will therefore remain the third best result in the history of Serie A in this respect, behind the 43 goals of Conte’s Juventus and the 44, again by Juventus, of Allegri.
