The most important matches of the season?
“The most important match for me was in the complicated period I had in October against Pro Patria. From there a very long period began in which we scored many points. She was instrumental in the path we took. Another is the one against Vicenza who have lost only 2 of the last 15. This helped us gain confidence and take the fear away from us”.
A comment on this vintage?
“It was a nice whirlwind of emotions. I accepted a big bet because two years earlier I came close to B. I did it with awareness because I knew the men who work and, it’s not a guarantee of victory, but it helps a lot. It was a beautiful journey because winning two championships in a row doesn’t happen often and this year was the consecration. We have a group that has always come together and grown together. We finished seventh.”
On your journey to Piacenza? Do you know Simone Inzaghi, did you expect this career of his?
“The journey with Piacenza was exciting. They were unforgettable seasons. I know Inzaghi and we were also teammates. I believe that few would have bet on a career as a coach. His character didn’t seem to match his and instead he proved to be a great coach. He has done incredible things. From a gaming point of view he did something unique and extraordinary, not to be equated with Guardiola, just for trophies won and matches played.”
Your favorite formation and the one preferred by your players?
“I played 4-3-3 for 80% of my career. If I can set up a season from scratch I choose that. The kids’ favorite formation is the one you make them play in.”
On the “We care” project wanted by President Caracciolo?
“We went a few weeks ago, where President Marani was also there, where this project was presented. It is an extraordinary thing desired by Caracciolo. It’s an extraordinary thing from a social and cultural point of view. They also added situations of the highway code and a series of things that demonstrate a great attachment to families and those who need it most.”
