Vlasic was out due to groin pain… Are your regrets increasing?
“Looking at the opportunities, we had many opportunities to score. Against them we have to sacrifice ourselves, they never shot, I’m very happy and proud. I have no regrets, even today we weren’t able to score. But the boys give everything, not there is regret. The ranking is always right, it means that we were unable to score in moments of great football. It is also physiological to make a mistake in a match.”
What was missing for the leap in quality?
“I’m very critical in certain situations. We made a mistake at the beginning of the year in trusting certain players who didn’t give us anything. The boys were splendid after a few months. It’s like this in Turin: people want to go to Europe, but we we are doing fantastic things. In some matches we lacked goals from wingers, defenders and midfielders.”
On goals not scored.
“Some players could have done more, in terms of characteristics. Looking at their career numbers, I was optimistic. I expected something from others. Some wingers scored five or six goals, in Crotone, because those are the actions and closures. Here only Bellanova: it’s not just the striker who can do everything, but looking at the past, those are the numbers.”
Is tenth place the best?
“The team has always given its all, the first year we had eight loans and four contract expiries. This year we have a better situation in terms of economic stability. We bet on players we shouldn’t have bet on. Then we get Masina who comes here and does a splendid match. At the beginning of the year we made incorrect assessments, even though we had a very positive situation. I thought we would develop players further but no, we changed in January.”
On the market.
“Regardless of the coach, Torino must aim for Europe. You go from seventeenth place to tenth and you realize that it’s not enough. We need to be more demanding for everyone, if we want to bring happiness we have to raise the bar. For me this It’s a huge achievement.”
