In his interview given to Corriere della Serathe Inter goalkeeper, Yann Sommeralso spoke about his secrets that led him to be one of the most important goalkeepers in the world: “Meditation plays a very important role in my career. A goalkeeper is subjected to really high pressure and meditation completely frees me from everything this: for me it means returning to the essence of myself for a few minutes, without background noise. I’m alone with my thoughts: it’s a fundamental thing.”
Do you add to this the work with your mental coach?
“Yes, from the beginning of my career: as a young person you have to learn to live with mistakes and successes. And even today we work a lot on preparing for matches and we also talk about what matters in private life to perform at your best as an athlete. A comparison continuous”.
Did Inzaghi ask you for a lot of foot work?
“Yes. But it takes some time to refine the construction from behind: at Bayern I didn’t have time, but here after a few months things were already in place.”
Pavard-Acerbi-Bastoni: are there many other defenses better than this in Europe?
“She’s certainly one of the best. And it’s extraordinary to have defenders like that in front of me fighting like crazy to protect the goal. But it’s all the teamwork that is fundamental.”
