The double ex Paulo Sergio: “With Bayer an open challenge, the derby has given Roma wings”

It’s not long before the first leg of the Europa League semi-finals between Roma and Bayer Leverkusen. Paul Sergio gave an interview to La Gazzetta dello Sport to talk about the match between his two former teams: the Brazilian played for the German club between 1993 and 1997, before moving to the capital: “They will be two good matches, an open challenge. After all, we are talking about two teams that play well and who likes to dominate the game. The work that Xabi Alonso did, with the Bundesliga victory, is truly something incredible.”

Did Daniele De Rossi surprise you?
“Not surprised, in Rome they always told me that he could become an excellent coach. He’s doing well, I’m happy that the club confirmed this. With him the team has grown, while with Mourinho I thought there were some problems. And then Daniele won the derby, the match in Rome is a match that gives you wings.”

Stronger Lukaku or Schick?
“I like Lukaku better: strong, unique, there aren’t many around like him. He’s an important nine.”

Xhaka, on the other hand, wanted Mou and changed Bayer…
“He is the driving force of the team, he works a lot, he has become a leader. Today there are three fundamental players in Bayer, who completely make the difference: him, Tah and Wirtz”
