Naples, president of the Transport Commission: “There are no conditions for the stadium in Bagnoli”

The President of the Transport and Infrastructure Commission of the Municipality of Naples, Nino Simeonespoke at Radio Mars. “On Bagnoli, the most viable hypothesis could be that Napoli builds a sports centre. It should be understood, however, what SSC Napoli wants to do and how much it wants to invest. There is great attention, there is great availability, but obviously there are also other partners, other interlocutors, institutional and private, who have an interest in that area.

“There are no conditions for the construction of the stadium there, due to landscape and environmental problems. It was a vision. Now we need to focus on the redevelopment of the Diego Armando Maradona, above all to offer Naples a venue for the European Championships”.

“Regarding illegal car parkers and the price capping of authorized structures, I also brought the problem to the attention of the Prefect, there is the question of the free market. Therefore there are no laws, not even at municipal level, that can impose a more correct behavior for the owners of the authorized structures. Paradoxically, it could cost more to park the car than the ticket for the match. I tried to address the topic but there is this law that protects private individuals, free businesses on the issue of prices. The only thing we could do as a city administration is check to see if these garages are all up to standard. Also because many of these commercial activities, and this is serious, use the blue lines adjacent to the garages. This must not happen and there is a lot of attention paid to this. We can ask the traffic police for everything but we cannot ask them not to have cars parked where they are prohibited. When we do the redevelopment work on the Maradona stadium it would be important to create an area ad hoc stopover, even underground”.
