Inter is a war machine… and a goal-scoring machine: scoring in every Serie A match, unique in Europe

A triumphal season – or almost, considering the disappointment of the Champions League -, a championship from the first to the last day and a Scudetto won well in advance, moreover with the mathematical certainty that arrived in the derby played on Monday 22 April. Simone Inzaghi’s Inter swept away all their opponents and became Italian champions for the twentieth time in their history. An important and deserved title, which the Nerazzurri honored in the “celebration match” against Torino, winning 2-0 at San Siro, in front of their fans, before starting the parade through the streets of Milan.

Inter’s strength this year was, among others, linked to their prolificacy in front of goal: “Inter is the only team in the top five European leagues to have scored in every league match this season”, we read on the well-known statistics site WhoScored. Eighty-nine points, 81 goals scored and just 18 conceded, best attack and best defense by separation. A relentless and unstoppable war machine, in which the contribution of captain stands out Lautaro MartinezSerie A’s top scorer with 23 goals (and hasn’t scored in 8 rounds) and the new signing Marcus Thuram, who immediately entered the hearts of the fans and into Inzaghi’s schemes and scored 12 centres.

In second place among scorers in the league there is a surprise: Hakan Calhanoglu, never so prolific even though most of the goals came from the penalty spot: there are 13 goals this season for the Turk, who has consecrated himself in the role that belonged to Marcelo Brozovic.
