Iago Aspas warns footballers against investing: “It’s easy to lose money”

Iago Aspasstriker of Celta Vigo, agreed to participate in the presentation of a tax guide created by the company PKF Attest in which real cases are presented and advice given to footballers on how to invest and what to do with the money earned. As we read in Mundo Deportivo, the center forward explained what happened to him with an investment that seemed profitable at the beginning, but which he ended up discarding after a consultation with his advisors:

“When a business opportunity presents itself to you, everything seems to be a good prospect that can lead you to make big numbers. It seems that either the investment is made on the spot or the opportunity slips away. I remember an investment proposal that seemed to me fantastic. I had to contribute around 300,000 euros into a business that, after a few months, would return my contribution and produced impressive profitability.

Almost by chance, the topic came up in a conversation with my consultants and I presented the operation to them. They immediately took the matter very seriously. They spoke with the promoters of the company, analyzed the numbers, the responsibilities assumed and the chances of success. Investing there in the proposed way had a touch of madness. The numbers in the business plan lacked rigor and, therefore, profitability collapsed, with a high probability of losing the investment. The experience helped me understand how easy it can be to lose large sums of money.”
