(ANSA) – LISBON, APRIL 27 – The new president of the FC Porto sports club is André Villas-Boas, former coach of the team in the 2010/11 season. The elections for the new corporate bodies, in which 26,700 members participated, took place on Saturday 27 April and the counting concluded during the night. Villas-Boas’ opponent, Jorge Pinto da Costa, who had led the team since 1982, acknowledged defeat.
This victory comes at the culmination of months of tension, characterized by scuffles such as the one that occurred at the general assembly in November last year or, again, by the vandalism of Villas-Boas’ house. Several members of Porto’s organized supporters are currently detained or under investigation for this violence. (HANDLE).
