Final result: Lecce-Monza 1-1
LECCE (edited by Luca Esposito)
Falcone 6 – Idle for almost the entire match, he failed to perform a miracle in the final against Pessina.
Gendrey 6 – Monza has different characteristics than Sassuolo and doesn’t have the ability to push as they would like. He does his part, however, making himself preferred in the defensive phase. From 82′ Venuti 5.5 – Unlucky protagonist during the penalty kick that scored 1-1, he extended his arm betrayed by a series of anomalous rebounds.
Baschirotto 6 – From the beginning he makes Colombo understand that there is no room or time for sentimentality. He goes to catch it very high, keeping it away from the penalty area. Effective marking.
Pongracic 6.5 – He is one of the players who has grown the most during this season, his personality allows him to convey confidence to the entire backfield. He doesn’t miss a single intervention.
Gallo 6.5 – He has the opportunity to make it 1-0 in the 85th minute, but shoots weakly into the arms of Di Gregorio. When you clock up all those kilometres, you can lose clarity when it comes to finishing. Another player who has demonstrated that he is from Serie A, now the absolute master of the left-handed lane.
Raffia 6 – Monza is always dangerous when playing with the two attacking midfielders, Gotti knows this and adjusts accordingly. It is up to him to lend a hand at the rearguard, he is often asked to man-follow Pessina and he carries out his task flawlessly. He comes out very tired after running all over the field. From the 60th minute Gonzalez 6 – Lots of obscure work in midfield.
Blin 6 – His first chance of the match, a shot from the edge of the area that grazes the crossbar. It is one of the rare offensive outings of the midfielder, called upon to cover rather than build.
Oudin 5.5 – It wasn’t a particularly favorable day for the most talented players, even he adapts to the rhythms of a 0-0 match and struggles to get into the heart of the game. He has a good opportunity at the end of the first half, a sort of moving penalty: double shot and double clearance by Pablo Mari. From 82′ Pierotti 6 – His is the header for the goal of the illusory advantage.
Dorgu 5.5 – The initial acceleration suggested another super race like the one in Reggio Emilia last week. Monza, however, soon manages to find the appropriate countermeasures and limits him without giving him almost anything. From 71′ Almqvist sv
Krstovic 7 – The goal had been missing for three months, at Arechi he had favored Gyomber’s own goal without finishing in the scoreboard. He had unlocked it in full injury time with a stone from the edge of the area which could have meant salvation. The appointment has only been postponed, but the technical gesture remains which testifies to the quality of the market operation conducted by a master like Corvino.
Small 6 – He doesn’t shoot on goal nor is he particularly dangerous in the opponent’s penalty area. However, he deserves a passing grade because he links the game well and manages to still participate in the maneuver with some intelligent changes of play. He is growing his understanding with Krstovic. From the 60th minute Sansone 5.5 – He didn’t deliver what was expected.
Luca Gotti 6 – The equal mockery at the end does not erase the good work he has done in these first 40 days. His Lecce is one step away from safety and has allowed only one shot on target to its opponents.
MONZA (edited by Luca Esposito)
By Gregory 6 – The same goes for his colleague from Monza: he suffers only one shot on goal, which he can do absolutely nothing about.
Birindelli 6 – Great application by the red and white winger, who was good at limiting the exploits of a dangerous player like Dorgu as much as possible.
Izzo 6 – All his experience to keep a couple of goals at bay fresh from a super match in Reggio Emilia. Decisive in a couple of circumstances, he comes out due to a slight physical problem after receiving an avoidable yellow card. From 81′ D’Ambrosio sv
Seas 6.5 – From Palladino’s words we will understand whether, for Lecce’s goal, the fault lies with the central defenders who were too static in their own penalty area or with the midfielders who did not mark. Nothing, however, erases the positive performance of perhaps the strongest defender in the squad.
Kyriakopoulos 6.5 – He’s the first to try, breaking the monotony of a match that immediately seemed to be aimed at parity. His long-range shot ends just wide. Diligent and good in both phases.
Bondo 6 – Half a vote less because, probably, he is the one who misses the mark on Krstovic who is free to kick and put it into the top corner. Considering that he is very young and that, on paper, he was an alternative to the starters, it can still be said to be a pleasant discovery.
Akpa Akpro 6 – If it is true that sometimes he touches the ball too many times before passing it on to his teammates, it is equally true that he is always in the thick of the game and dominates the midfield, applying himself as best he can in both phases. After an almost anonymous start to the season, he managed to climb positions in Palladino’s hierarchies. A dam to protect the defense. From the 75th minute Gagliardini 5 – Not a positive impact. Warned, he was immediately booked for a tactical foul. He too was not very careful when marking when Lecce scored 1-0 in the Cesarini area.
Valentin Carboni 5 – For a long time the technical staff promised to give him an opportunity from the first minute, he who has very interesting technical skills and who has attracted the attention of numerous professionals. Today he didn’t shine at all, limiting himself to his homework and experiencing several moments of anonymity. From 60′ Colpani 6 – He has a good opportunity to give Monza the lead, but he doesn’t get his shot on target. When he gets the ball, however, he is always a danger for the home defense.
Pessina 6 – Ice-cold from the spot in the 95th minute, it was absolutely not easy to stay clear-headed with 22,000 people booing and still cheering for the Giallorossi’s lead goal. The best way to redeem what certainly wasn’t the best race of his season.
Zerbin 5.5 – He doesn’t play a bad game, but he has the demerit of lighting up in spurts and this is the characteristic he must work on for the definitive leap in quality. Intermittent. From 72′ Maldini sv
Columbus 5 – Via del Mare welcomes him with applause, mindful of that very heavy penalty that allowed the Giallorossi to secure salvation. However, he does nothing to make his former fans regret him. Pongracic and Baschirotto almost don’t let him touch the ball. From the 60th minute Djuric 5.5 – He always does his part with his head, even with a few too many fouls. He has the demerit of never seeing the door.
Raffaele Palladino 6 – His team hasn’t won for over a month, something that had never happened except with Stroppa at the beginning of last championship. There was a lack of sparkle in the offensive phase, with many errors at the time of the last pass. What a reaction, though, after Lecce’s goal.
