Fiorentina, there is also the championship. Sassuolo is another piece for a dual European path

It is certainly not the most anticipated match of the season, but the match that awaits Fiorentina this evening against Sassuolo (kick-off at 8.45pm) can still be important in its own way and there is absolutely no mistaking it. Yes, it arrives a few days before the big match of the week, the first leg of the Conference League semi-final against Club Brugge, but Serie A can also play a role in the Viola’s season finale.

The ranking, on the other hand, says that there is certainly not a breakneck race around and every single point from here to the end could prove difficult to reach 8th place which in itself would have no weight, but with the conditions that are being put in place this season (the Italian 5th in the Champions League and the possibility of obtaining an extra place for Europe in the event that one between Roma and Atalanta arrived outside the top five places and win the Europa League at the same time) can be ennobled.

Like last year (then Juventus’ disqualification for one year from UEFA competitions got in the way instead) eighth place could go beyond the meaning of placement in and of itself. To find out if this will be the case, there will be no other way for Fiorentina than to score as many points as possible (starting from Sassuolo) while simultaneously trying to make their way – again – towards the Conference final.
